Funny Town

Funny Town!

Just come along my friend,
Where the music always will last.
Where the food is always tasty,
And where the future will become past.

Take the slide of the jumbo,
The Jumbo colors it is,
The fun will be swirling,
And you will say this,

Funny Town,
Oh Funny Town
What a place to see!
Funny town,
Oh Funny town!
It’s a place that you want to be

The ground is on the ceiling,
And the ceiling is on the floor.
The windows are stuck on the ground,
And so is the door

Funny Town,
Oh Funny Town
What a place to see!
Funny Town,
Oh Funny town
It’s a place that you want to be

Everyone there is super
Super duper cool
How friendly they are
That you won’t think of them as a fool!

Funny Town,
Oh Funny Town
What a place to see!
Funny Town,
Oh Funny town
It’s a place that you want to be

Dad poem

(a poem made at very short notice on Father's day)

I am glad you're my Dad
If you weren't I'd be sad
To say I am proud
Not a bit mad
I know, you love to play with me
I can prove it, you see.
So just come along and have some tea.

I know this poem isn't long
If you want, You can change it into a song
But just remember that,
you're pretty good at ping pong!

Cake for you, Mom

Amma
I made a cake
that's bigger than you
I don't think you can eat the whole thing,
So I will help you eat it.
Let's enjoy Mother's day together.

My braces and I

(This happened on March 16, 2011)

"Are you sure it doesn't hurt?" I asked my mom again.
"You will be fine" my mom laughed. I didn't reply.
I just waited until it was my turn and I followed a girl of about 15 and went inside.
She told me to wait. I looked around at all the computers.
"Hi Harshita!" the nurse came in. " My name is Jessica" she said.
She was holding a tray and she said " Pick a color".
I reached out and point at the purple ones.
She made me lay down, and she glued brackets on my teeth.
Then she put a wire on the brackets. And then she put a purple band on the bracket.
"You did a great job!" she smiled. " Pick a prize" she led me to a treasure chest, and I pulled out a super bouncy slinky.
The whole afternoon, I played with my slinky
And I realized that braces don't hurt at all (0%)
I really like my braces.

A letter to my parents

Dear Parents,
Can I please have a set of drums?
When I tried playing the drums, I was amazed to see how much fun they are.
Besides that, I heard that kids who take instruments are good at math!
I actually am practicing a little on Abhi's fake drums.
Plus it would be so cool to have experienced 4 instruments so far!
(Guitar, Recorder, Violin and drums)
Can I please play drums so it will change my way of looking at music.
I promise that I will not give up the drums.
I actually wanted to play drums for about one and half years.

I am not trying to demand for drums, but
trying to ask sweetly.

Sincerely
Harshita

I am Massachusetts

I am Massachusetts
My green rolling hills stand strong and brave.
My sandy beaches are filled with unique shells.
My hardworking waves are the home of my
priceless cod and lobsters.

My cranberries are delicious.
My birds chirp away their mighty song.
My beautiful Sun rises for all.
My tourists surrounded by Harvard Square, home of
the first college in America, Harvard.

My Berkshire Hills will bloom
with pretty pink roses.
My soothing music will fill Tanglewood forever.

You stand by me, Massachusetts!

Purple Pebble

I was walking on the sandy shores of Cape Cod beach
When I stepped on something hard.
I removed my foot very carefully and saw something
shiny on the smooth blanket of sand.
As I picked it up, I had a tingly feeling in my hand.
I looked up at summer's evening sky
And wondered where it came from.
Did it fall from the sky?
Impossible.
Or did the Ocean throw it out from the water?
I looked at the small pebble in my hand.
It was very unusual how it shimmered in the sunlight.
The most unusual thing about it
was its light, creamy violet color.
It looked like somebody colored it in with a purple
marker.
As it lay on my hand, I could feel its smooth front.
I realized, as I flipped it over, that it was blue on the
back, unlike any other pebble I had ever seen.
I decided I wouldn't take it,
I would leave it for someone else to find.
I threw it into the ocean.
As the watched the waves gulp the pebble in,
I remembered that if I had stepped somewhere else,
I wouldn't have found the pebble.

How I feel…

(About my moving back to India)

Why do I feel so tingly?
So happy, so excited?
Why do I feel so cheerful?
So pleased, and delighted?

What is keeping my hopes
So high, and light?
What is keeping me,
Awake during the night?

It’s just that thing,
That makes me grin,
It makes me so lucky,
Even though I don’t wear my lucky pin?

It’s that I’m going to India,
The best place ever,
I would like to be there,
Forever and ever!

I’ll miss my friends here,
And my school,
I hope my new pals
Are really cool!

Friends

My friend and I smile.
We both are funny
But we both are different
I am quiet and she is sunny.

We like riding bikes
They are really cool
I zoom down, she zooms up
we both fall into the pool.

My friend and I smile.
we both are funny
But we both are different
I am quiet and she is sunny

(Sung to the tune of Mary had a little lamb)

The best part of me

The best part of me is my mouth
Because I can sing and laugh!
I can also shout HELP if I was stuck in a fire by myself.

Without my mouth, I wouldnt be able to smile, sing, giggle, eat or most importantly talk!
I could not cough or sneeze and it would be very hard to control it.

The best part of me is definitely my mouth.

A special Day

I know today is special
in every single way
I will always remember
that its Mother's day.

Don't get grumpy
Please, don't get sad
I wont do anything
to make you mad.

Hope your day is
filled with love.
Look up in the sky
and see your happiness above.

I am glad you are here
to celebrate today
Make it really memorable
because, it's mother's day!

Spring

The Spring breeze
fluttered like
butterflies
in my
face
It
was a good
feeling to have,
you know!. You
should feel it only
if you go to Maine

I am America

I am shy, imaginative and extremely boisterous at home.
I am friendly, empathetic and kind.
I am brown eyed, dark haired and have dark skin.

I am my mother's smile.
I am hair clips that match my outfits
I am Miranda Cosgrove's melody, Taylor Swift's beat and sound of Selena Gomez.
I am the Hindu religion.

I am a rare Indian.
I am America and America is me.

(A note written as an immigrant in America)

My Special Dream

(My special dream written before Martin Luther King's birthday)

I have a dream that Violence should stop. Violence is a very bad thing. It causes very bad injuries. The world should not have fights on busy roads. I think it is better to leave the fight or stop the fight. Also, try not to interfere in big dangerous fights. Don't support people who fight. If you do, probably you will end up in the middle. I have a dream that if these things turn to be true, our world can be a better place to live.

What I am thankful for

(A note written in school, around Thanks giving day in November 2010)

I am thankful for many things, so let me tell you all of the things I am thankful for.

The first thing I am thankful for is my mom and dad. They always help me in anything and if I am sad, they cheer me up. I am thankful for them.
The next thing I am thankful for is my 11 year old sister. She always supports me and if I get hurt, she helps me. She's really funny and she likes to tell me all the naughty things I did when I was small. I am thankful for her.

The other things I am thankful for are the 2 dogs I know. DJ and Jackie. I used to be afraid of them, but now I love them. I am thankful for them.

My Bamma and Me

My Bamma and I are the the same because we both like to tell stories.
We both like watching telugu movies and we both like to listen to songs from the ipod.
We are different because I like all junky food and she likes healthy Indian food.
She likes yellow and I like purple.

I love Bamma because she named me when I was born and she is the best Bamma in the whole world!

Winter is the warmest season

My world is warmest in winter

I like to snuggle up in my covers while I read a book I like or watch TV.
At night I cuddle up with my animals and read aloud to them. My mom makes hot milk and cookies and I eat them while watching TV. I cover myself in my super cozy rug and go to sleep. I munch on the chocolate chip cookies and I think about all the fun places I have gone to. I eat hot brownies straight from the oven. I drink hot yummy cocoa. I also snuggle up on my bed and play Nintendo DS.
The heater buzzes through the night.
Winter is the warmest season!
