(a poem made at very short notice on Father's day)
I am glad you're my Dad
If you weren't I'd be sad
To say I am proud
Not a bit mad
I know, you love to play with me
I can prove it, you see.
So just come along and have some tea.
I know this poem isn't long
If you want, You can change it into a song
But just remember that,
you're pretty good at ping pong!

Cake for you, Mom
Amma
I made a cake
that's bigger than you
I don't think you can eat the whole thing,
So I will help you eat it.
Let's enjoy Mother's day together.

My braces and I
(This happened on March 16, 2011)
"Are you sure it doesn't hurt?" I asked my mom again.
"You will be fine" my mom laughed. I didn't reply.
I just waited until it was my turn and I followed a girl of about 15 and went inside.
She told me to wait. I looked around at all the computers.
"Hi Harshita!" the nurse came in. " My name is Jessica" she said.
She was holding a tray and she said " Pick a color".
I reached out and point at the purple ones.
She made me lay down, and she glued brackets on my teeth.
Then she put a wire on the brackets. And then she put a purple band on the bracket.
"You did a great job!" she smiled. " Pick a prize" she led me to a treasure chest, and I pulled out a super bouncy slinky.
The whole afternoon, I played with my slinky
And I realized that braces don't hurt at all (0%)
I really like my braces.

Red Sox and Yankees
Red Sox
Confident, good sportsmanship
Hardworking, practicing, helping.
Strong swings, fast balls, weak swings, slow balls
Losing, weaklings, always missing
Wimpy, boring, bored

A letter to my parents
Dear Parents,
Can I please have a set of drums?
When I tried playing the drums, I was amazed to see how much fun they are.
Besides that, I heard that kids who take instruments are good at math!
I actually am practicing a little on Abhi's fake drums.
Plus it would be so cool to have experienced 4 instruments so far!
(Guitar, Recorder, Violin and drums)
Can I please play drums so it will change my way of looking at music.
I promise that I will not give up the drums.
I actually wanted to play drums for about one and half years.
I am not trying to demand for drums, but
trying to ask sweetly.
Sincerely
Harshita

I am Massachusetts
I am Massachusetts
My green rolling hills stand strong and brave.
My sandy beaches are filled with unique shells.
My hardworking waves are the home of my
priceless cod and lobsters.
My cranberries are delicious.
My birds chirp away their mighty song.
My beautiful Sun rises for all.
My tourists surrounded by Harvard Square, home of
the first college in America, Harvard.
My Berkshire Hills will bloom
with pretty pink roses.
My soothing music will fill Tanglewood forever.
You stand by me, Massachusetts!

Purple Pebble
I was walking on the sandy shores of Cape Cod beach
When I stepped on something hard.
I removed my foot very carefully and saw something
shiny on the smooth blanket of sand.
As I picked it up, I had a tingly feeling in my hand.
I looked up at summer's evening sky
And wondered where it came from.
Did it fall from the sky?
Impossible.
Or did the Ocean throw it out from the water?
I looked at the small pebble in my hand.
It was very unusual how it shimmered in the sunlight.
The most unusual thing about it
was its light, creamy violet color.
It looked like somebody colored it in with a purple
marker.
As it lay on my hand, I could feel its smooth front.
I realized, as I flipped it over, that it was blue on the
back, unlike any other pebble I had ever seen.
I decided I wouldn't take it,
I would leave it for someone else to find.
I threw it into the ocean.
As the watched the waves gulp the pebble in,
I remembered that if I had stepped somewhere else,
I wouldn't have found the pebble.

How I feel…
(About my moving back to India)
Why do I feel so tingly?
So happy, so excited?
Why do I feel so cheerful?
So pleased, and delighted?
What is keeping my hopes
So high, and light?
What is keeping me,
Awake during the night?
It’s just that thing,
That makes me grin,
It makes me so lucky,
Even though I don’t wear my lucky pin?
It’s that I’m going to India,
The best place ever,
I would like to be there,
Forever and ever!
I’ll miss my friends here,
And my school,
I hope my new pals
Are really cool!
