“Hey”, Jay said, as he came up the porch. I was sleeping in the hammock, watching the big waves spill out. “Hi”, I greeted him. He sat down next to me. “Where’s your cousin”? He asked. “Shelly? Oh, she went to the masquerade exhibition”, I replied. “Cool… She didn’t ask you to come”? Jay asked me. “Nah, she was going with her old pals”, I said. “Oh”. Jay said. He was silent for a long time, with only my humming around. “Can I call her on your Iphone”? Jay asked. “Yeah, sure”. I dug around for my hot pink Iphone, but when I handed it to Jay, it rang. “It’s… Shelly calling”, Jay said, as he picked up the phone. “Hello? Hi. What? That’s horrible! Okay, Tori and I will be there in a minute. Hang on”. Jay handed me the phone. “The diamond mask had been stolen! The thief kept a replica instead. When Princess of England reached for it, the mask was being projected! Let’s go”! I gasped, and I scrambled onto my feet. I grabbed my detective bag, and scribbled a note saying:
Hi Mum. I have gone out with Jay and Shelly. I’ll come back by 7:00. I took the spare keys. I hope you have your pair. See ya!
I stuck the note onto the door, and locked it. We both called a cab, and we rode to the exhibition. We spotted Shelly, with a bunch of girls. “Guys! Come on”! Shelly urged us, and she led us into the Princess’s green room. The Princess was crying. “No! It’s impossible”! The head of the masquerade, yelled into his phone. “But it was right there! Manny and Clark, the Princess’s two guards were guarding it! Right”! The head clicked his phone. “My highness! The detective squad is coming”! The head bowed. “No! It can’t be”! The princess shrieked. “The detective squad”? Jay whispered, and we went back into the hall. Niha, our friend we had rescued, joined us. “Hey guys”! She waved. “Hi! We have a problem”! Shelly said, and she explained what had happened. Niha nodded. “I know the Princess. Such a bragger! I hope she’ll remember me”, Niha said, and we showed her the green room. “Hi Evangeline! How are you”? Niha acted as if the princess was her best friend. The princess dabbed her eyes daintily with her hand kerchief. “Oh Niha! This is horrible!” she wailed. As the princess told her story, we crept out to the crime scene. Clark and Manny looked outraged. I flipped out my suspects’ book. “Who do we have first”? I asked. “The head herself”? Jay suggested. “But how is that possible when”- Shelly began, but I wrote it in anyways. “The watchman”, Shelly said. “Or Manny and Clark”, I added. I pulled out my magnifying glass. “Finger prints”! Jay said in a loud voice. We looked at all the case where the diamond mask had been. “A clue”! Shelly yelled, and she showed us a finger print which beautifully lay on the glass. “Great”! Jay grinned, and he slapped Shelly on the back. Shelly laughed, and we spotted two detectives entering. “Of course, Liz, we’ll charge… eight dollars per three minutes”, the detectives were saying. “What? That’s not a nice deal”! The head yelled. “Too bad, honey”, the detective muttered. Just then, I spotted a tiny piece of a handkerchief on the ground. “I’ll go around asking people for their handkerchief”, Jay suggested. “Okay. Just remember: White kerchief, pink flower”, Shelly reminded him, and Jay set off. Niha joined us with the preppy fourteen year old princess. The princess wore a long black dress and a crystal tiara on her blonde silky hair. She was very fare, and when she walked, she danced so gracefully on the floor. “You are the detective squad”? The princess sniffed. “Find my mask! I want my mask”! The princess burst into tears. “I love that mask! Diamonds, beautiful”! Niha tried to calm the Princess down, by handing her a napkin to wipe her face. “Niha! Is that napkin yours”? Shelly cried. “No! It’s mine”! The princess said, flipping out a powder compos, and she touched her face with her puff. “Yes, of course. Here is pretty Evangeline”, the princess mumbled. “Um… princess? Were you anywhere near the mask”? Shelly asked. “Of course not”! The princess quickly said, and she flounced away. “I think there’s something wrong with your friend, Niha”, Shelly muttered. “Can I have that napkin you are holding”? Niha nodded, and she gave her the napkin. Shelly took my magnifying glass. “Hmmm… Same prints”! Shelly yelled, giving it to me. “Right! So it all makes sense”! I replied. “What”? Shelly and Niha said together. “First, Niha, go check the princess’s ID card. Shelly, you go tell everything to Jay. I’ll do my work”. They nodded, and we scurried off into all directions. I skipped over to the head. “Hello! I am your free detective”! I said, cheerfully. “How old are you”? The head asked, suspiciously. “I’m twelve”, I said. “Twelve? Stop bothering me kid”, the head returned to her papers. “I solved your case”, I said. “Oh right”. The head brushed me away. I grinned. I had expected this. “Manny, Clark”! I yelled to the guards. The guards were surprised. “Oh please! Don’t tell”! Manny yelled, falling onto my feet. I backed away. “I know you figured out that Gabrielle has kidnapped the real princess and she stole the mask herself”! Clark sobbed. “Aha”! I yelled, and leaving them crying, I rushed into the princess’s green room. “I’ve got you Gabrielle”! I yelled. Gabrielle looked up, outraged. “What”? She yelled. “Kids”! Gabrielle got up, and she slipped a sleek black gun out of her purse. She held it to my head. “You’re gonna die”! She yelled, and before she could shoot, police scrambled into the room. “Hands up”! They cried, cornering her. She dropped her gun. Manny and Clark followed the last police, with their hands tied up. “You idiots! You told our secret”! Gabrielle screamed. “Where’s the mask, sweetie”? A female police asked, with her hands on her hips. “I’m not telling”! Gabrielle screamed. “In the lounge”! Clark blabbered. “Where”? The police whipped out her gun, pointing at Gabrielle. “No! Don’t shoot me! I’ll tell! It’s under the sofa”! Gabrielle sobbed. Shelly, Niha and Jay who joined the scene, burst out in laughter. “Kids”! Gabrielle screamed on the top of her lungs. “Under the sofa is not really a smart place”! Niha confessed. Gabrielle scowled, as they dragged her out of the room. “Thank you, kids”, the officer said, smiling. “She’s a major wanted criminal. It seems the real princess escaped, and she’s arriving soon. What would you like as an award”? We just grinned. “We don’t need anything”, I said. “We need an award”, Niha said. “I’ll take you all for Ice cream”! So, we ended up sitting in the ice cream parlor, eating six or seven ice creams each! Yeah, Ice Cream!

The case of the kidnapped millionaire
Detective Miss Tori
THE CASE OF THE KIDNAPPED MILLIONAIRE
“Well, whose turn is it to pay today”? Jay asked. Shelly reached into her purse. “Mine”, she said. I grinned. “I’ll just pay and come”, Shelly said, getting up. “Well, Tori, as I was saying, the aliens didn’t come in 1768 because of the moon’s rotation blocked their rocket ship”, Jay continued speaking. I smiled. Having a science crazy best friend was fun, and I didn’t mind having a fashion frenzy best friend. Shelly returned. “Shall we go”? She suggested. Jay got up. I too got up, but my pink Iphone fell to the ground. “Oh, crap”! Shelly said. I leaned to pick up my Iphone, when I saw a crumpled up paper which said SOS on it. I picked it and my Iphone up. When I unfolded it, I saw a message.
SOS!!! Help being kidnapped Hotel Savoy floor 7 room 18 Kidnapper going to get 500,000,000 dollars off me from Roy Kannah SOS!!!! November 7
I gasped, and my Iphone again fell. “Today’s November 7th”! “Mr. Roy Khanna? He’s a millionaire! It must be his daughter Niha who is kidnapped”! Shelly cried. Jay picked my Iphone up for me. “We got to do this”, I said. “Yeah, but where is Hotel Savoy”? Jay asked. I brushed my Iphone, and I turned it on. “Oh, see here, I got this new app which shows how far places are away. Maybe I can see”.
Papa Pizza HOTEL SAVOY
2 MILES
AWAY
“It’s really close”, I said. Jay nodded. “We’ll take a taxi”, Jay suggested. “Hey, not my money”, Shelly warned. “I’ll pay”, I said. We walked out of Papa Pizza, and we got hold of a taxi. We reached in 12 minutes. We went inside, right to the receptionist. “Who booked Floor seven, room 18”? I asked. “Mr. Bad”, the receptionist replied. Jay snorted, and Shelly punched him on his back. “I couldn’t help it”! Jay said. I climbed into the elevator. Jay followed, and Shelly came after. When we reached floor seven, we hurried to the staff room. Jay changed into a cleaner’s dress he had found, and Shelly and I into room service people dresses. After we changed, I carried the food cart to room 18. When we knocked on it, a tear stained Niha opened it. “Room service”, I said simply, trying to keep a blank face. I went inside, and Shelly followed me. Jay started dusting the dresser, while Shelly vacuumed. I started the making the beds. After we finished, we went over to Niha. “Where is Mr. Bad, ma’am”? Shelly asked. “Oh, he l-left”, Niha said. “Good”! I took off my wig, and grinned at Niha. “We came to rescue you”! Jay whispered. Niha gasped. “Now, come into our cart”! I said. Niha looked at me. “Go”! Shelly urged. Niha crawled into the cart. We pushed it into the lift, and down into the lobby. “One two three, and RUN”! I whispered. We broke free by running. Nobody noticed us. We ran all the way to Papa Pizza. There in the rest rooms, we changed our clothes. Niha looked really happy. We called a taxi to Niha’s house. On the way, we kept questioning her. “How did you drop this note at Papa Pizza”? I asked. “I already heard two people discussing this, when I came here with my friends”, Niha explained. “I quickly made a SOS paper, and was about to go out, when a kidnapper got up, and threw me into a sack. I had accidently dropped it here”. “Is this your house”? Jay asked. “Yep”, she said, as the taxi drew into the driveway of a HUGE white manor. We hurried inside. “We found Niha”! Jay yelled. Mr. and Mrs. Roy were sitting their crying when we came in. After many hugs and kisses to Niha AND us, Mr. Roy asked us if we wanted anything. “Nothing, sir”, I replied politely. After Mr. Roy begged us that he wanted to give us something, we decided to get free ice cream cones. Licking the ice creams, we walked back home. What an adventure we had, all right!!!

My Dog’s Meow
It was a normal sunny day, and I was in the park, holding the leash to our Pomeranian, Pooch. Pooch was normally strutting, holding her head high haughtily, to show off her pink rhinestone collar to all the other dogs in the park. I was trying to show off Pooch to everyone since Pooch was adorable to look at. All the others mumbling, “Awww…”, or, “So sweet”! A little girl came up and patted Pooch. “He’s cute”, she said. “She”, I corrected.
The girl kneeled down, and played with the happy Pooch. Soon her mother came, holding a stroller. “Lucia! Where were you? I was looking for you everywhere”! Her mother exclaimed. “Sorry, mum. But isn’t she so cute”? The little girl told her mother. Her mother petted Pooch. “Well, say bye to your new puppy pal, and come, since we have to go over to Grams for dinner”, the girl’s mother said. The little girl petted Pooch one more time, and she held her mother’s hand, and they walked away.
And that was then I heard a little meow.
I looked around. No sign of a cat. Shrugging, I picked up Pooch. If Pooch sees a cat, she’ll run off. I held Pooch tightly, as I continued with our walk. Meow. There it goes again. I thought I saw a cat tail disappear into the bushes. Meow! Meow! I stopped walking.
The meow was so loud that even Pooch could hear it. But Pooch seemed calm, and happy that she didn’t have to walk on the ground. I was a bit scared that Pooch would suddenly leap out of my hands, and I have to go home, and face mom, dad, and Missy. Missy would jump on me, and try to murder me, while mom would ground me, and dad would take away my cell phone. Meow. It seemed like Pooch was saying it. I dropped Pooch, in shock.
Pooch gave me a dirty look, and she started licking her paws! I felt dizzy, and suddenly Pooch gave a loud, “Meow”. Pooch took a sudden run, but after so many days of practice on a remote control car, I jumped on Pooch.
Pooch couldn’t escape, but she tried to bite me. It didn’t hurt, it just felt like a little nibble. Pooch hardly had all her teeth. I quickly clipped on her leash, and I dragged Pooch home. At home, no one believed me. “But she did”! I cried at tea. Missy snorted. “Wow”, she said, sarcastically, as she served herself a scone.
Mom felt my forehead and neck. “Are you feeling alright dear”? Mom asked. Dad put down his coffee cup. “Mallory is perfectly fine. She just is playing a joke, right”? Dad said. “N-O”! I stamped my foot, frustatedly. “She really meowed”! “Probably some cat”, Missy said. I poured myself some tea, and I sipped it, angrily. Missy cell phone beeped. Missy flipped out her cell phone, checked her message. She mumbled, as she wrote something back. “Sorry”, she said, as she put her cell phone away. “Who was it”? Mom asked, buttering a bagel. “Jacob. He is the new kid. He actually found my homework book, and he finished it for me! So nerdy, but helpful”! As if Missy knew who REAL nerds were. Real nerds were people like Missy, herself! “I was saying”- I said. “Yeah, yeah, Pooch meowed”, Missy said, as she got up to clean the table. “That’s enough, Mallory. No jokes”, mom said. Dad agreed.
I angrily got up, and stormed to my room. I didn’t even drink my tea. Pooch lay asleep on my bed. She woke up as she heard me enter. She raised her head, and softly said, “Meow”. “Now you act like a cat!” I said grumpily. “Why don’t you meow in front of my parents once?” Pooch licked her paw again and closed her eyes to nap. I threw my air pillow at Pooch, and then Pooch gave a loud and startled, “Meow”! I groaned, and I buried my head into my pillow with frustration.
