My Dog’s Meow

It was a normal sunny day, and I was in the park, holding the leash to our Pomeranian, Pooch. Pooch was normally strutting, holding her head high haughtily, to show off her pink rhinestone collar to all the other dogs in the park. I was trying to show off Pooch to everyone since Pooch was adorable to look at. All the others mumbling, “Awww…”, or, “So sweet”! A little girl came up and patted Pooch. “He’s cute”, she said. “She”, I corrected.

The girl kneeled down, and played with the happy Pooch. Soon her mother came, holding a stroller. “Lucia! Where were you? I was looking for you everywhere”! Her mother exclaimed. “Sorry, mum. But isn’t she so cute”? The little girl told her mother. Her mother petted Pooch. “Well, say bye to your new puppy pal, and come, since we have to go over to Grams for dinner”, the girl’s mother said. The little girl petted Pooch one more time, and she held her mother’s hand, and they walked away.

And that was then I heard a little meow.

I looked around. No sign of a cat. Shrugging, I picked up Pooch. If Pooch sees a cat, she’ll run off. I held Pooch tightly, as I continued with our walk. Meow. There it goes again. I thought I saw a cat tail disappear into the bushes. Meow! Meow! I stopped walking.

The meow was so loud that even Pooch could hear it. But Pooch seemed calm, and happy that she didn’t have to walk on the ground. I was a bit scared that Pooch would suddenly leap out of my hands, and I have to go home, and face mom, dad, and Missy. Missy would jump on me, and try to murder me, while mom would ground me, and dad would take away my cell phone. Meow. It seemed like Pooch was saying it. I dropped Pooch, in shock.

Pooch gave me a dirty look, and she started licking her paws! I felt dizzy, and suddenly Pooch gave a loud, “Meow”. Pooch took a sudden run, but after so many days of practice on a remote control car, I jumped on Pooch.

Pooch couldn’t escape, but she tried to bite me. It didn’t hurt, it just felt like a little nibble. Pooch hardly had all her teeth. I quickly clipped on her leash, and I dragged Pooch home. At home, no one believed me. “But she did”! I cried at tea. Missy snorted. “Wow”, she said, sarcastically, as she served herself a scone.

Mom felt my forehead and neck. “Are you feeling alright dear”? Mom asked. Dad put down his coffee cup. “Mallory is perfectly fine. She just is playing a joke, right”? Dad said. “N-O”! I stamped my foot, frustatedly. “She really meowed”! “Probably some cat”, Missy said. I poured myself some tea, and I sipped it, angrily. Missy cell phone beeped. Missy flipped out her cell phone, checked her message. She mumbled, as she wrote something back. “Sorry”, she said, as she put her cell phone away. “Who was it”? Mom asked, buttering a bagel. “Jacob. He is the new kid. He actually found my homework book, and he finished it for me! So nerdy, but helpful”! As if Missy knew who REAL nerds were. Real nerds were people like Missy, herself! “I was saying”- I said. “Yeah, yeah, Pooch meowed”, Missy said, as she got up to clean the table. “That’s enough, Mallory. No jokes”, mom said. Dad agreed.

I angrily got up, and stormed to my room. I didn’t even drink my tea. Pooch lay asleep on my bed. She woke up as she heard me enter. She raised her head, and softly said, “Meow”. “Now you act like a cat!” I said grumpily. “Why don’t you meow in front of my parents once?” Pooch licked her paw again and closed her eyes to nap. I threw my air pillow at Pooch, and then Pooch gave a loud and startled, “Meow”! I groaned, and I buried my head into my pillow with frustration.

So, now you know the story of My Dog’s Meow.
